Hurtigruten Svalbard
Hurtigruten Svalbard has been using the eSled on scooter safaris for tourists since 2019, says Tore Magne Hoem, Director of Experiences.
Hoem is full of praise for eSled’s performance in demanding climate conditions on the Arctic Archipelago Svalbard.
– They work regardless of the cold. In minus 30, they still go just as well and just as far, he assures.
Hoem says that the eSled scooters require minimal follow-up from the owner.
– There is incredibly little maintenance. A little support for upgrading the software now and then. And the only thing we’ve had to do is replace the handlebars and plastic parts on the undercarriage, he says happily.
Hurtigruten Svalbard has recently invested in eight of the new generation eSled. Five years of experience with the first generation makes the company confident in the product.
– As with all transport out in nature, and perhaps especially on Svalbard, operational safety is extremely important. We get that with eSled.
Hoem himself is from Finnmark and has lived in Svalbard for 25 years. In other words, he has plenty of snowmobile experience.
– I have ridden a snowmobile all my life, and there is something special about the fact that the only sound comes from the belt in the snow. And that is perhaps where I see the biggest benefit here, in addition to the purely environmental argument – the silence.
